Handbid's New Feature Update

Welcome to Handbid Live!

We are excited to announce our latest upgrade to Handbid that includes both performance upgrades and an exciting new feature: Live Streaming.

We are calling this new feature "Handbid Live”

What is Live Streaming?

Live Streaming the ability to stream (show) a video stream within the platform. Handbid's live stream is based upon the YouTube Live platform and allows an auction or event host to add a live YouTube video stream to their event.

These streams are shown on the Handbid Events website as well as within the Handbid Apps (iOS is released, Android coming soon). When a manager launches a live stream, users are immediately notified and can view the stream.

Promotion of Items within the Stream

Just under the live stream video, managers can promote items in real-time so that bidders can bid on them or purchase them (including donations). This makes it easy to conduct a virtual live auction or Paddle raise within Handbid without the user needing to exit the screen (and live stream) to bid or donate.

Other updates in this release include:

  • We have significantly sped up the loading of auctions/ events in the manager
  • We have sped up the generation of leaderboards for peer to peer fundraisers
  • We have fixed a number of other minor bugs that you may not have noticed (but we did)

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Testing image caption text
  1. Numbered list
  2. Numbered list 2
  3. Numbered list 3

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
